What’s love got to do with it? Today, award-winning media company World of Wonder unveiled the 18 suitors who will be vying for Vanjie’s heart in the new non-heteronormative dating show VANJIE: 24 HOURS IN LOVE.

In the series presented by House of Love cocktails and mocktails, Miss Vanjie lives her Bachelorette fantasy as she spends 24 hours getting down, dirty, and a little bit flirty with some potential new boos. Is 24 hours enough time to find love?

YASS met Vanessa Vanjie Mateo and this is what we talked about.

I’m so happy to be doing this digital interview with you with Vanessa Vanjie Mateo. But, where are you?

I’m here in Egypt, in Cairo and I’m on vacation. I just finished the Werq The World tour and I wanted to take a few days off, because you have to work hard and play hard. It’s a lot of fun. I mean, it is tiring, but we feed off the energy of the audience and then, sometimes, I’m like “How do we do it”? But, the adrenaline kicks in and I it’s fun.

Where do you find all this energy?

Honestly, I think it’s because, first of all, I’m latina and we already have a lot of energy. But, I have just always been like this. I’ve always been super chatty, super energetic, and I think I got it from my mom. But, I do also have my moments. while it’s a retreat. And I close the door and I’m hiding and watching Netflix or I don’t want to hang out.

Everybody’s waiting for the 24 Hours of Love. It’s the most anticipated series of the summer. Did you find the man of your dreams?

Me? I can’t really say much. But do you think I would go on vacation by myself? Oh my God. Please.

How was the 24 Hours of Love?

Sometimes it felt like it went by too quick and I wasn’t halfway with regards to making a decision. Towards the end we all started getting a little bit delirious and a little bit like “woowoo”, but it was it was a lot of fun. And, I just want to make sure that people knew that I was serious and I actually really wanted to take something out of this and find somebody that we had some kind of connection. I didn’t think at the end I was gonna get married, but I want to find somebody that can actually really start a relationship with and hopefully get to know as a person and grow together.

What are you looking for in a man?

I am looking for somebody who has already done all the craziness and is ready to come down, who is more serious and wants to settle down, who can appreciate time with family and with me and be in love with me.

Did you get down, dirty and flirty during these 24 hours?

I’m not gonna say I did anything too scandalous. But you cannot buy a car without testing. Let’s just say that.

Did you have anybody like helping you decide or giving you advice?

Sometimes I would ask for the opinions of some of the other guys. I would have brought my father. Oh my God. So, I brought a few people to help me. There are several guests that come in the show to give me some advice and help. I was impressed and surprised with the guys that were there for me these 24 hours. They got to see Vanjie in and out of drag.

What was the best part of this and what was the most challenging part?

The best part of the experience was probably getting to meet everyone and, actually, putting myself out there and opening up to meeting guys and, actually, hopefully finding somebody. The difficult part was there was a lot of difficulty when it came to making decisions. Sometimes it’s hard to try not to hurt people’s feelings because you start to care about them. And, also, it was hard staying up for 24 hours. Some of the men that were close to me they were hard too!
