Drag Race Queens Ella Vaday, Kitty Scott-Claus and River Medway come together to support Race for Life event series in partnership with Tesco, as Ella Vaday shares her mum is undergoing cancer treatment.

Ella is joining co-stars Kitty and River Medway, as well as Brighton Queen Scarlett Fever and London based Drag Queen Boss to highlight the fun and inclusive spirit that’s reflected at all Race for Life events up and down the country.

The launch comes as Ella shares that her mum Donna is undergoing treatment for breast cancer. Rising to fame on series three of the popular show, Ella,33, said: 

“My mum was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2021 and it was a huge shock for the whole family. I know first-hand how vitally important research is and that’s why I’m supporting Race for Life.

“The events are great fun, and everyone can get involved, whether it’s for friends, family or a couple of Queens, the money raised really does make a difference.”

The glamorous group is coming together to show their support for Race for Life, with new content revealing how they get race ready.

Clare Moore, director of Race for Life at Cancer Research UK, said: “We’re calling on the nation to join the fight against cancer this summer and sign up to Race for Life. Everyone has a reason to race, whether taking part for yourself, family or friends. We all know someone who has been affected and coming together gives us a chance to remember and celebrate our loved ones, and raise money for life-saving research.

“Race for Life isn’t about crossing the finish line first, you can run, walk or jog and everyone is welcome. We want people to think about who they’ll race for and join us on the start line. By coming together at events this summer, we can all be part of the fight against cancer.”

Race for Life in partnership with Tesco is a series of non-competitive events that people can run, walk, or jog. There are a number of 3k, 5k, 10k and Pretty Muddy events planned to take place across the UK in 2022. Events require no prior training, and people can take part at their own pace with friends, family or solo.

Since it began in 1994, Race for Life has raised over £886m for Cancer Research UK’s life-saving work into all types of cancer.

The Race for Life 2022 events:   

3k route. Entry fee: adults and young adults (16 and 17-year olds) = £14.99. Entry fee: kids (6 to 15-year olds) = £10  

5k route. Entry fee: adults and young adults (16 and 17-year olds) = £14.99. Entry fee: kids (6 to 15-year olds) = £10  

10k route. Entry fee: adults and young adults (16 and 17-year olds) = £14.99 

Pretty Muddy – 5k/10k obstacle course. Entry fee: adults and young adults (16 and 17-year olds) = £19.99 

Pretty Muddy Kids – 5k obstacle course. Entry fee: kids = £10. All children participating must be over 1.2m tall on the day of the event
