North London’s Cypriot goddess Soulla always brings her crazy, unpredictable madness to life. Recently in Greek Expectations she dived into the life of a Greek influencer navigating the highs and lows of family, culture, and the mess of everyday life. delivering laughter, unapologetic craziness, some tears, and pure joy.

Who is Soulla and why does everybody love her?
I think Soulla brings a sense of nostalgia to people, we all know, or have a Soulla in our lives. A fraction of many inspiring woman who I grew up around all mixed together; ultimately my incredible mum.
How did you come up with the creation of this persona?
From a very young age I just LOVED impersonating people. It wasn’t planned to be honest, I just created a voice, then the further I went along, Soulla was born.
How similar is Alexander Theoharous with Soulla?
Your previous performances (An Evening with Soulla and The Greek Expectations 2.0) in Soho Theatre left such a sweet taste to the audience who kept asking for more! What are your next plans?
I would love it to be a special, the performance to be televised, to reach to more people in the world.
What shall we expect from your next performance?
More fun, more hard topics tackled, just overall depth.
Did you expect that positive reaction from the audience?
I try to never expect, or assume. So the love and support is always a surprise to me.
Apart from the Greek and the Cypriot audience, who else do you address to with your work?
I like to think Soulla is universal, it’s very easy to put that concept in a box just for ethnic minorities, but what Soulla says or does, is truly a universal thing.
How is the most difficult part with stand-up comedy?
I think the unpredictability of what will work or not
And what part do you enjoy the most?
I love making people laugh but also feel, I love human beings where they can come see a show and potentially be present from the outside world.
Tell us a secret about you!
I’m autistic & adhd – definition of a Greek meze !
