On Mekahel wears many hats.  He is a model, actor, fashion designer and social media influencer with nearly three million followers.   He is best known for starring on the REVRY reality show, Putting On, the series that followed the ups and downs of his personal and business life.  In two seasons, viewers watched as the underwear model built his Mounderwear fashion empire from the ground up, navigating through the many challenges and pitfalls of the competitive fashion industry.  Mounderwear continues to thrive today with On Mekahel recently announcing the company’s summer 2024 collection. 

This summer, with the debut of his music single, “Play with Fire”, Mekahel’s adding ‘singer’ to his resume.  Produced by DJ Ran Ziv, the song is a soulful European house and dance-pop record about that passion people feel in those initial moments of meeting that special someone they are drawn to.   Mekahel says he experienced the sensation upon meeting the man who would become his husband.  He explains more.

On Mekahel:  It’s incredible!  The song has that European/Israeli style beat that I love.  It’s the exact beat I wanted for the song.  It sends me right back home to Tel Aviv during Pride! 

How did the collaboration with producer Ran Ziv come to be?
On Mekahel:  I have loved Ran Ziv’s music for years.   He takes listeners on a journey; one that makes a person want to dance!  “Play With Fire” is all about care-free fun on the dance floor!

What makes the dance floor such a magical place?
On Mekahel:  To me, the dance floor is a place where you can be whoever you want to be.   There are no masks, no agendas, no obstacles.  We live in a world full of filters, and when you are at a party, dancing the night away with friends or your partner, it is the most liberating feeling to simply focus on the moment and allow the music to carry you through.

Did you meet your husband on the dancefloor?
On Mekahel:  No, we actually met on Tinder!

When not recording, you’re a designer for Mounderwear. What are you currently working on?
On Mekahel:  We have our next collection of boxers dropping around September.   They are the best we’ve ever made.   The fit, the fabric. I’ve been wearing the samples for the last two months and I honestly can’t wear anything else. I’m so excited for this drop.

What have been your best sellers this summer?
On Mekahel:  Summer is always about swimwear.  This year we premiered our resort style collection of speedos in pastel colors and terry towel fabric.  It’s a design we came up with a few years ago that is simply perfection.   It comes with a removable cup in the front.   It is meant to whisk men on a dreamy vacation to Greece and the Maldives.   I’m so happy people are loving it.

Where does the name Mounderwear come from?
On Mekahel:  The name came from two places:  M.O. underwear, my initials, spelled backwards.  Also, M.O. is the abbreviation of the Latin word modus operandi, which means a particular way of doing something.

Does your husband help with the brand?
On Mekahel:  We each have our own side of the business that we focus on.  I usually come up with the general concept.  We then brainstorm our design ideas together.

Does he model for the brand?
On Mekahel:  He does!   In my eyes, he is the hottest man on this planet!  However, he doesn’t like being in front of the camera and gets annoyed when I make him model.

What’s your message to the dance floor this summer?
On Mekahel:  Be happy and proud of who you are.  Life is a journey.  There will be ups and downs but take time to dance the night away and enjoy this beautiful world we live in.
