Netta: “That moment is NOW, and I am ready to share it with the world!”

Coming off her Eurovision finale performance, “iconic pop artist” (Ladygunn) Netta drops her latest song ‘Everything,’ an anthemic disco-pop earworm that is the perfect addition to your summer playlist.

I’ve spent a lot of time working on myself, learning my value as both an artist and a human being, and waiting for the moment when I could come back to this song and whole-heartedly bring it to life,” stated Netta. “That moment is NOW, and I am ready to share it with the world!”

Co-written with AJR and Zara Larsson, ‘Everything’ on the surface shows Netta expertly telling off her ex, but the song’s true message is to say goodbye to what is holding you back and encourages you to live your life. ‘Everything’ emphasizes how liberating it is to know what you deserve and to not be afraid to work for it. The music video takes place in NYC showcases a celebration that captures the freeing nature and joy of the song.

Earlier this month, Netta performed at the 2023 PRIDE kick-off event: Stonewall Day Unplugged and performed at this year’s PRIDE LIVE Stonewall Day Celebration along with headliner Christina Aguilera. Netta has more PRIDE events planned for 2023 including EuroPride 2023 in Malta on September 7th, stay tuned for more!

Netta debuted her riveting cover of Dead Or Alive’s “You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)” at the Eurovision 2023 Grand Final in Liverpool. During her performance, Netta entered from high above the arena on a giant silver bird, dazzling the crowd with her unique stage presence and powerful voice. The entire performance was a colorful and joyous spectacle reminding Eurovision fans how legendary this 2018 winner is.

As Consequence stated that Netta has “dominated stages around the world and has seen her music spread like wildfire,” she is continuing her domination with her ‘Wonderful and Great’ World tour. She will bring her legendary loop wizardry and infectious charisma to several cities in Europe this Summer and the US in the Fall. Dates below.

YASS met Netta just before the beginning of her international tour and this is allw e talked about!

Do you unapologetically want everything?

Yeah.

I really loved your new song. It is incredible. I was listening to it during the weekend on repeat-mode and I was dancing with my with my friends.

Thank you so much. This is what I want for the song, people to have fun with it. You know, I make music that makes us feel good and that makes us wanna want to get up and dance and spread positivity and beauty around the world.

What is the message behind the song? Is it a love letter to all the exes?

You know, life is moment. And we all had that moment where we’re sitting with a bucket of ice cream screaming “That douche bag, how can he not see how much we I try and how amazing I am”? How can people pass on that? How can people sleep on that? We all had that frustrating moment when we felt like nothing and, we shouldn’t stay in a relationship that makes us feel this way. We shouldn’t be settling for less than what we think we deserve. And, that’s that’s the main emotion that I wanted to give out. That kind of revenge and frustration.

Also, something about the song is that it is for everyone, it’s very poppy. I have really tried to differentiate myself and to make myself as peculiar and as weird as I can be because I was always compared to other people. And I was always in the lower scale of that comparison. I didn’t want want to be in a competition. So I always made myself so specific. It’s like a therapeutic process for me to release my need to be so weird and specific and, to be myself.

What is your self-care process? How do you perform self-love?

Recently, I wrote a song about it called “I Love My nails”. I show myself love by starting to appreciate the little stuff of myself I love most. Loving yourself is very wavy, not stable, it is like a relationship, with the ups and the downs. We should work on that always. When I am feeling down, I try to do stuff that remind me of why I do love myself. And basically, those are moments when I create and I go in the studio or to the nail salon or I schedule an appointment with my stylist. I usually do something small that would create a small victory that I can build from that.

What shall we expect from your next album?

It’s very, very mixed. It like it to compare it with the room of a 17 year old person. Like, imagine a space where it can co-exist a poster of Billy Eilish and a poster of The Ninja Turtles. It feels like a lot of sounds and from a lot of producers and writers that create a cohesive story in my opinion.

How do you feel about your upcoming world tour?

I’m touring to meet my fans. I just want to see my fans. I just want to play my music for my people. I miss them and I want to perform for them. I’m so excited. And I want to test the new music in front of them. I want to see if they like it and see the reactions. My fans are the most important part of this journey. If they if they like my music, then we’re safe. I’m all about the stage. I get distracted in the studio, but the stage is what I’m really about. I do not want anything to interfere with the performance. I want to feel comfortable and wear leotards because when I wear them then I’m the freest!

In 2018 you were the most famous person in the world, at least in Europe for sure. How has your life changed after this?

I’m very lucky to have reached so many people. And so many hearts. The Eurovision moment was a big moment for me. I get to have a life where I sing around the world. And people come and see me and this is where I create my art to fans. And they consume it and like it and we have a special connection.  This is the thing that I am excited about. That big splash of fame is and was amazing. To make that impact on young boys and girls showing to them that everything is possible and that you don’t have to fit or create something conventional in order to succeed in life, was the most important. But, what I have right now, this intimate connection on stage with my fans who jump and scream my songs in my concerts, this is what I was waiting for. And I’m very lucky and fortunate to have that.

Absolutely. And you are one of the you’re one of the names, one of the artists from Eurovision that everyone remembers and this year in Eurovision we remembered how amazing and how legendary your victory was in 2018. Because you have this this stage presence that it is like it is like a drug. It is contagious.

Oh my gosh. First of all, thank you. When I got the offer to come back, I was super super excited. I said to the organisers “If I’m coming back then I want to do You Spin Me Right Round” because I Dead or Alive is such an amazing queer iconic band. And and something about this song is so Netta. I wanted to make a big boom and I had a UK-based designer too. I said that I wanted to come and appear from the sky because for heavy girls this is not usually an opportunity we get to experience. You’re never getting to be in the air. Like a boy never lifts you up. It was very exciting. I was wearing this 3D-printed latex inflatable piece by Jack Irving and I was carrying on stage about 40 kilogrames of equipment.

Would you go back again later to compete as an artist?

I don’t know. I don’t think so. But never say never. I don’t think I am the same person I was yesterday. It seems like a hard no for some years, but you never know.

What are your future plans? What does Netta want to achieve in the future?

I want to fall in love. And I can’t wait for my album to come out. I want a stable life. I want to have the privilege to keep creating and keep growing. And I think that it is not a lot to request.
